A scale adds the same unknown amount to every mass it displays. A box of nails reads 38 g. After all the nails are removed, the empty box reads 14 g. What is the actual mass of the nails, in grams?
Both readings include the same extra amount. What happens to that amount when you subtract?

Who are the IBEX MATH books for?
IBEX MATH is being developed for students preparing for math competitions, with separate editions for Grades 3–4 and Grades 5–6. Choose the edition that matches your learner’s grade band.
Can I buy a book yet?
The books are still being prepared for publication. At release, choose Amazon US or Amazon Canada from the book details. Checkout, payment, and shipping will take place on Amazon. For a publication enquiry, email prooflinepress@gmail.com.
Are the lesson videos available?
Video lessons are in preparation. You can already explore the lesson companion, try Round 01, Question 01, download its writing sheet, and save questions or notes in your browser.
How will the book’s QR codes work?
The planned QR codes will open the matching learning pages in a web browser. A separate app will not be needed. Final codes will be added to the books when the public lesson links are ready.
Is IBEX MATH an official competition publication?
No. IBEX MATH is independently developed. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Math Kangaroo, MOEMS, or AMC 8. Competition names belong to their respective organizations.
